A staffed ocean-view villa on Vipingo Ridge, home to Africa's only PGA golf course.
The Villa
Coral Retreat is a private four-bedroom house inside the gated Vipingo Ridge estate, taken by one party at a time and never more than eight guests. Panoramic Indian Ocean views on one side, lush tropical garden on the other, and equatorial light moving across the terrazzo floors all day.
The sitting and dining rooms open into a large outdoor entertaining area: a long al-fresco table, sofa seating for the slow part of the evening, and a fully equipped bar. A sun terrace of loungers runs beside the private pool, with the reef and the dhows beyond it.
The house comes staffed — housekeeper, house manager and gardener — so shopping is done, beds are turned down and the garden smells of frangipani rather than work. A private chef can be arranged, or the housekeeper will happily cook.

Your Hosts
You are booking with the people who own the house. Between us we have spent careers in travel and five years hosting here, and our roots on this stretch of coast run deeper than the villa.
Host
Kathryn has spent her working life in travel, and knows exactly which small details make a house feel like a holiday rather than a rental. She looks after the enquiries, the arrival plans and the requests you only think of on the drive from the airport.
Host
Mark handles the house itself — the solar, the water, the team — and knows the Kilifi coast well enough to tell you which morning to be on the reef and which to be on the first tee. Between them they have hosted here for five years.
Our ties here are personal, and so is the work we support. A share of what we earn from the house goes to the Vipingo Village Fund, a youth charity in Kilifi County running football, feeding and medical programmes for local children. Ask us about it — we are always glad to talk about the village next door.
Practical Details
Everything worth knowing before you write to us — including the one thing we would rather tell you now than have you discover on arrival.
A strict maximum of eight guests, with no day visitors or events.
Not suitable for young children: the pool is unfenced and there are no stair gates.
Estate speed limits are observed at all times — the wildlife has right of way.
Location & Getting Here
The estate sits on the ocean side of the Mombasa–Malindi highway, between Mombasa and Kilifi Creek.
Fly into Moi International Airport, Mombasa (MBA). The drive north takes around forty minutes and we will arrange it.
The estate has its own airstrip, so you can come straight in from Nairobi, the Mara or Lamu.
The Mombasa–Malindi highway runs past the gate; Kilifi town is half an hour further on.
Your names are registered with estate security in advance, so the gate is a formality rather than a wait.

Coral Retreat is a privately owned, recently refurbished four-bedroom luxury villa for rent on the gated 2,500-acre Vipingo Ridge estate at Vipingo, Kilifi County, on Kenya's Indian Ocean coast, around 40 minutes north of Mombasa and Moi International Airport. The villa sleeps a strict maximum of eight guests in five beds (three king beds and two singles) with three and a half bathrooms, and is let exclusively to one party at a time. It has a private unfenced pool, a sun terrace with loungers, panoramic ocean and garden views, an open-plan sitting and dining room opening to a large outdoor entertaining area with an al-fresco dining table, sofa seating, a fully equipped bar and a barbecue. A housekeeper, house manager and gardener are included in the rate and a private chef is available on request. The house runs entirely on solar power, has air conditioning in the bedrooms plus ceiling and floor fans, a fully equipped kitchen with electric oven, air fryer, microwave, fridge-freezers and a dedicated beer fridge, and Starlink internet of up to 180mbps for remote work. Two resident cats live at the villa, and it is not suitable for young children because the pool is unfenced and there are no stair gates. The estate has 24/7 manned security with pre-registered guest access, an on-estate medical facility, a private airstrip, a free-roaming wildlife sanctuary with giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and eland, the Vipingo Ridge Beach Club at Kuruwitu beside a community coral-reef conservation project, watersports, tennis and a kids' club, and the 18-hole, par-72 PGA Baobab Course — Africa's only PGA-branded championship golf course. Golf, the Beach Club and other estate amenities are booked directly with Vipingo Ridge and are not included in the villa rate. Bookings are taken direct from the hosts, Kathryn and Mark, or through the villa's Airbnb listing.
