The Estate

Vipingo Ridge: 2,500 acres of coast, golf and wildlife

A gated estate on the Kilifi coast with championship golf, a free-roaming wildlife sanctuary and a beach club on the Kuruwitu reef.

The Setting

Secure, and still unmistakably coastal Kenya

Vipingo Ridge runs from a high ridgeline down to the reef: indigenous forest, open grassland, and a shoreline of white sand and warm shallow water. Security is 24/7 and the roads are quiet. Your names are registered with the gate before you travel, so arrival is a wave rather than a wait.

Wildlife Sanctuary

Giraffe on the fairway, and nobody moves them

The estate is a free-roaming sanctuary. Giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and eland graze between the greens and along the verges, unbothered by cars and entirely used to golfers. Birdlife is constant, and loud from about half past five.

It is not a big-game park. It is something less common: animals living at their own pace on land people also live on, close enough to watch from the villa terrace with a coffee in hand.

Beach Club

The Beach Club at Kuruwitu

A short drive down from the Ridge: white sand, long lunches, cocktails as the dhows come back, and the pioneering Kuruwitu coral-reef community conservation project just offshore. The snorkelling there is genuinely exceptional — the reef has been protected by the local community for years, and it shows.

Snorkelling

Protected coral, clear shallow water, and fish in numbers you rarely see now.

Watersports

A dedicated centre on the coast for time on and under the water.

Dining on sand

Kitchen and bar with your feet in it, from mid-morning to sunset.

Sport & events

Sports club, tennis, kids' club, triathlon and trail-running events through the year.

The Beach Club, golf and other estate facilities are booked directly with Vipingo Ridge and are not part of the villa rate. Tell us what you would like to do and we will send you the right contacts before you arrive.

Golf

The PGA Baobab Course

Africa's only PGA-branded championship course sits at the heart of the estate: par 72, eighteen holes, with a driving range, the PGA Academy under PGA Professional David Marsh, and a clubhouse and 19th hole that guests tend to linger in.

Whether you play seriously or once a year, it is worth a morning. Rounds are booked with the estate pro shop.
